A few days passed, and Saturday arrived.

Seo Jungeun moved into Park Chigyeong’s residence, while Taeri moved into the mansion where he actually lived.

She quit her job at the gaming hall. It was because of her mother, who clung to her and cried.

‘Hey, you should have told me your cousin was a fucking prosecutor! Why were you working in a place like this, making things awkward for everyone?’

The gaming hall owner only fussed at her for a short while after she said she was quitting, and ended his rant by asking her to come help out occasionally if they were short-staffed.

To Yijoon, who still hadn’t asked about anything, she introduced Park Chigyeong as the prosecutor in charge of helping with her father’s case. At first, Yijoon was puzzled.

Now she was saying he was helping her, after running away terrified like that before? It was understandable. But he soon became genuinely happy and reassured Taeri, who was feeling apologetic.

‘That’s great, Taeri. You didn’t belong in a place like this anyway. You’re like a flower that should only be in a beautiful garden. Let’s go out to eat now. Let’s watch a movie together. Let’s do that.’

You’re like a flower that should only be in a beautiful garden.

Why did those words almost bring her to tears?

The taxi entered the affluent neighborhood and stopped smoothly in front of the mansion. Beside Taeri, who got out of the car, was a large, black suitcase.

    “…….”

Taeri coldly looked up at the luxurious mansion, flaunting its majesty by its mere existence.

    Clack, clack.

Pulling the suitcase, which was almost as big as herself, she stopped in front of the massive iron gate, and rang the doorbell.

    Beep.

The moment she walked into his tangled boundaries of her own volition.

    She felt absolutely, incredibly, disgusted.

    * * *

As she she stepped through the entrance, past the garden reminiscent of a summer with sprinklers spraying on, Taeri’s jaw dropped.

Taeri had lived in a nice apartment once, but compared to this mansion, her past home was almost embarrassing to call “nice.”

If there were levels of luxury, this mansion would undoubtedly be at the highest tier.

While she marveled at the opulence, ill-suited to her current situation, she heard the sound of multiple footsteps descending the stairs, snapping her momentarily scattered thoughts back into focus.

“Whoa. Kang Taeri? You’re the one staying at our house?”

The first person to come down was Park Sihyun.

Holy shit, holy shit, holy shit.

He fussed, still unable to shake off his childish demeanor.

“Oh my, who is this pretty doll? Sihyun, do you know her?”

The next person who came down was Gong Yunseon. Her attire, appearance, speech, and demeanor screamed “wealthy housewife.”

“Mom, this is her! That girl I made that pornographic fake image in college!”

Perhaps because the house was so spacious, Park Sihyun’s voice echoed painfully loud. Gong Yunseon flinched and covered her hand over Park Sihyun’s mouth.

Shhh. Lower your voice, you little idiot. Your father’s here.

Only after Park Sihyun nodded did Gong Yunseon release her hand and approach Taeri with elegant steps. With the same hand she’d just used to muffle Park Sihyun, she clasped Taeri’s hand and smiled gently.

“So you’re that girl. Oh my, I’m so sorry. I truly apologize for what happened back then. That punk still acts like a child. What can I do? That’s just how he is. I hope you can be generous and understand about what happened back then?”

As she listened to her, Taeri realized that Gong Yunseon’s speech wasn’t particularly refined, just like Park Sihyun’s, and that he took after his mother. It was also the moment she understood how Park Chigyeong and Park Sihyun could be brothers.

“It’s unreasonable to expect understanding. However, I will accept your apology for what happened.”

    “Oh?”

“And my name is Kang Taeri, ma’am. Which floor is my room on?”

“Huh? Oh, um, the second floor. Our Prosecutor Park’s room is also on the second floor, but the house is so big that the rooms are far apart. You’ll have your own bedroom with a bathroom, so you probably won’t run into each other. Please make yourself at home while you’re here. We can go shopping too, oh my, just thinking about it makes me so excited. It’ll be like shopping with my own daughter.”

    “Yes, I’ll go upstairs now.”

The simple-minded Gong Yunseon was quickly caught up in her own excitement. Taeri bowed to her slightly and climbed the stairs with her large suitcase, politely declining offers of help from both Gong Yunseon and Park Sihyun.

Looking up at Taeri as she stubbornly climbed the stairs with a suitcase, which seemed as big as her, Park Sihyun muttered,

“Mom, she’s the one. The bitch I liked. Isn’t she fucking cool?”

“Uh, totally cool… Wait a minute, you little shit, what did you just call your friend? ‘bitch’?”

With Gong Yunseon’s reprimand, Park Sihyun’s head suddenly jerked forward with a swift thwack.

    * * *

Taeri had climbed from the basement level, where the study was located, to the first floor and was about to ascend the next set of stairs when she stopped abruptly.

    “You’re here?”

She’d run into Park Chigyeong, who was strolling out of the dining room with a coffee cup in hand. He was dressed in a suit, as if he had to go to work even on weekends.

You’re here? As if it wasn’t his idea.

    “Give it to me.”

    “No, don’t worry about it.”

He cut off Taeri’s words by snatching the suitcase in her hand and began climbing the stairs to the second floor as if it were nothing. The suitcase, which had seemed so large and heavy in her hands, looked incredibly small in Park Chigyeong’s grasp.

She didn’t know how long she would be staying, but her bedroom was, unsurprisingly, beautiful. She could even see the Han River in the distance through the window. There didn’t seem to be a single place in this mansion that wasn’t pleasing to the eye.

Taeri was awestruck by the artistic beauty everywhere she looked, but Park Chigyeong, the owner of the mansion, seemed unimpressed.

Of course. Even beautiful things become mundane after a few days.

She had been thinking about it on the way over. Why was Park Chigyeong doing this to her? What was his reason? Why was he going to such lengths? The answer to her complex questions was surprisingly simple.

The miserable Kang Taeri was the only amusement in Park Chigyeong’s bored and tedious daily life. He was feeling the same emotions towards her that she had felt towards him two years ago.

It was because she wasn’t reacting at all to his manipulations. In that case, the solution was also surprisingly simple. She just had to play along. The way he wanted. Like his puppet.

Then, Park Chigyeong’s intense interest in Kang Taeri, which was burning so intensely, would eventually fade away. Things easily built were easily destroyed, weren’t they?

Just like how the man looked upon the scenery of this luxurious mansion, which seemed like it would never bore anyone, with jaded eyes.

“I need to head to work now.”

Park Chigyeong, having neatly placed Taeri’s suitcase in a corner of the bedroom, glanced at his wristwatch and spoke.

Taeri, as if with newfound resolve, moved towards him.

She stopped in front of him and, without hesitation, lowered herself. Kneeling on the floor, she reached out and unbuckled his belt. Clink, with the sound of the buckle opening, a subtle crack appeared on Park Chigyeong’s face.

    “What are you doing?”

“You told me to do my best to help you from beneath you. I saw somewhere that dopamine release improves brain function. From now on, I’m going to do this for you every day. Until you’re sick of it.”

His eyebrows shot up crookedly. Hmm, he scratched the space between his eyebrows and then let out a chuckle. He grabbed Taeri’s chin and forced her to look up at him. The pressure was bearable.

“I don’t see any need to refuse if you’re offering generously. But, honey, do you think I’ll be satisfied with just that?”

Taeri couldn’t answer and only blinked. Park Chigyeong, looking down at her, already had a noticeable bulge in his pants. She could feel it before her own eyes.

    What an easy bastard.

“Take a rest today. I’m sure you’ve had a tough time lately.”

Park Chigyeong released her chin and re-buckled his belt.

“What do you like? I’ll buy it on my way home.”

Despite his eyes burning with lust, as if he were about to thrust his erect penis into her mouth at any moment, he acted quite gentlemanly.

To anyone watching, it would look like a caring husband asking his beloved wife what she wanted, which made her feel even more disgusting. Perhaps that’s why the thoughts she meant to keep to herself slipped out.

“Please, I’m begging you, stop being a dick.”

He frowned, then chuckled and left the room, closing the door behind him.

She stared at the closed door for a moment, then lay down on the bed, big enough for three people.

As she blinked and stared at the ceiling with half-closed eyes, sleep unexpectedly overtook her.

As he’d said, her life have been very tough lately.

    It was humiliating.
