Chapter 12. A Fierce and Intense Gaze

Surprisingly, Bonida let out a small murmur and shifted in her sleep. She turned her back toward him, and Girion nearly let out a chuckle but held it in. Some people were said to understand words even in their sleep—perhaps Bonida was one of them.

When Girion lifted her upper garment, he was relieved to find that her back was free of wounds. He hoped that when they met again a week later, there would be no new injuries on her body. Still, despite the lack of wounds, he deliberately applied the ointment to her back.

For some reason, the softness of her skin felt almost intoxicating.

When her skirt rolled up, Bonida felt her throat go dry. She was so conscious of how far Girion was going to pull up her skirt. It seemed that he had no hesitation in doing something promiscuous with women, judging by how he would lift up a woman’s clothes so calmly and check underneath. How many women had Girion been with to be so shameless? She almost frowned.

When the cold air suddenly touched her below, her awkward spot flinched against her will. It was a part of her body, but now it felt completely unfamiliar, like someone else’s. She couldn’t believe it, but her skirt hung over her belly button. She was dizzy, wondering if he would see her lower body.

Soon, she could feel his rough gaze persistently reaching below her. He was so blatant that he had no intention of hiding it. His persistent gaze reached every single part of Bonida’s skin.

Girion was frozen like a stone, staring only at her without blinking. She thought she heard his low breathing a moment ago, but now the surroundings were eerily quiet. His throat rippled in the suffocating silence.

With her eyes closed, her senses naturally became more sensitive. Since she was focusing all my attention on Girion, she could feel every little action of his. If a gaze could carry weight, Girion’s would have been intense and suffocating, thick with focus and intent.

Bonida hadn’t noticed it because Camille, the maid, didn’t look at her body much. However, all of a sudden, she was concerned about each and every wound. After he put medicine on the bruises on her arms, she became sensitive. What did it look like in his eyes? Does he think that she was badly hurt, or that someone had beaten her repeatedly? Either way, it was not pleasant.

She barely managed to give off a decent impression, trying to appear at her best. However, whether it was during dinner or now, she couldn’t seem to do anything right. When Bonida was silently struggling, on the verge of tears, he finally moved. What was he up to this time? As she braced herself, her mind racing to come up with an appropriate response, she could feel the tension building.

“I want to see her back.”

You want me to show you my back? Oh, it seemed like he was trying to check if there were any wounds on her back. If she showed him her back quickly, this ridiculous situation would end. Bonida desperately pretended to be asleep and turned around. At that moment, a slightly absurd laugh was heard.

Did it seem too theatrical? She had no acting skills, so her awkwardness might actually hide her own shame. Perhaps that’s why it wasn’t surprising when a warm hand touched her back. His long fingers gently passed over each spot, and it seemed there were wounds in places she hadn’t even noticed.

She had no idea that she had so many wounds on her body. It was surprising that Camille didn’t show it at all. In fact, Bonida didn’t look around her body. She was used to getting hit and she always had wounds. At some point, she gave up. No matter how much she struggled, it was just a reality that she couldn’t escape.

Though it was excessive, she tried to understand Girion’s actions, realizing that his concern for her came from worry. After all, the basic terms of their contract stated that he could touch and claim her at any time. When treating the curse, he was not bound by limits on frequency or location.

But still, this was her treatment, wasn’t it? It didn’t have anything to do with him personally. Bonida, despite the absurdity of the situation, tried to make sense of it in her own way.

Girion, after applying the medicine as he desired, stepped away from the bed. The room had several doors, each leading to a personal office, reception room, dressing room, and bathroom. Everything neatly adjacent to the main room. It was almost as though everything one could need was perfectly placed, as if walking through a bustling marketplace.

Not knowing where Girion might have gone, Bonida just held her breath and waited. If she opened her eyes and made eye contact with him, who was just coming out after finishing his work, it would be a big deal. She would be caught pretending to be asleep all this time.

She couldn’t even look at his face, which had been staring at her until just a moment ago. When he reappeared a little later, he carefully climbed onto the bed.

His arm went between Bonida’s nape. He carefully adjusted her head as if his arm was going to be her pillow. Soon, she heard him catch his breath for a moment, as if she had done as he wanted. Then, Girion pressed against her back. He was so tightly pressed that every breath he exhaled was transmitted to Bonida’s back.

Only after smelling his warm body temperature and the scent of the same bath salts she had used did she realize that he had washed up. Then, wait, what is this?

Something very hard touched her. It was heavy and somehow seemed to move slowly. Bonida was about to fall asleep as she wondered what was touching her body. She opened her eyes with a start when she realized what it was.

Fortunately, Girion was hugging her back so she didn’t get caught by him. Regardless, she was so surprised but tried to close her eyes

I’m crazy, I’m crazy. She had been pretending to be half asleep all this time, but she was so surprised that her heart sank. She was shocked by his body touching her for a moment. However, the embarrassment that came as she opened her eyes was greater than the thought of him touching her body. Then, her mind was quickly set ablaze.

Ha-, I’ve lived too long. She muttered something that old people would say inwardly, then pretended to be asleep as she slightly pushed her butt forward. Naturally, the gap between them closed as he simply filled it. His arms tightening around her became more intense than before. At this point, it seemed like she should just give up. From the moment she signed the contract, everything was meant to unfold regardless of her will for the next three years.

However, she never expected him to approach so actively and blatantly. Anyway, there’s no doubt that he had a lot of experience with women.
