FLBE Chapter 4 Part 6
by SYLPH‘I should bring her to the temple soon.’
Roan was determined to bring Liena to the temple, by hook or by crook. Verifying her divine power was an important issue, but contrary to what he told Rhetrik, as an Alpha, he, too, felt a strange attraction towards Liena, the Omega Saintess.
This was a first for Roan, too. For a Saintess to invoke his Alpha instincts, rather than his only feeling as a Pope, was truly unusual.
“Put everything else aside and think about the lord of the magic tower for now. If he decides to kidnap the Saintess, you will inevitably be helpless. Don’t you know how powerful his magic is?”
“…….”
A vein throbbed in Rhetrik’s eyes at Roan’s words. It angered him, but it was true.
If Lance was in front of him, he could surely kill him. But, Lance was an exceptional wizard. If he snuck in like before and kidnapped the Saintess, she would inevitably be taken away.
He couldn’t stay with her every day, every hour. He had to run the country and there were many occasions when he had to leave the palace. In the meantime, he needed someone to protect her. Moreover, he knew that the safest place was the temple.
‘But why don’t I want to?’
Rhetrik couldn’t trust even Roan, who was next to him. No, Rhetrik didn’t trust anyone.
“Your Majesty?”
“Don’t rush me. I’m thinking.”
“While you’re thinking so deeply, he might take away the Saintess. It seems better to reach a conclusion quickly, huh?”
A spark ignited in Rhetrik’s eyes at Roan’s relentless jabs. Rhetrik, who had turned his horse around, spoke coldly.
“We will discuss the rest when we return to the palace.”
“Alright.”
“Let’s return to the palace!”
Watching Rhetrik hurriedly rounding up his horse, Roan smiled faintly. Although he was thinking of bringing the Saintess to the temple by any means, the unexpected ambush made things easier. As much as Rhetrik hated Lance, Roan was grateful to Lance for the first time.
“It would be great if one of them died while fighting like madmen. It would be even better if both died.”
There were very few high-tier Alphas in this world. Two of them were in the empire, and one was hiding in the sky island. Although he did not know how many were hiding elsewhere, those visible were better off dead.
Even if they were high-tier Alphas, their levels must be different.
Roan smiled wryly, thinking of Liena.
In the garden lawn, Liena, who had plopped down, felt as if she had returned to the old days. The faces of the women sitting in line in front of the smiling Liena were also full of smiles.
“Next, please come forward!”
The maid, who approached timidly with a flushed face, turned out to be a young girl. However, her small hands were also scarred, just like the other women.
“Oh my! Have you left it like this?”
“It’s nothing serious…”
“It is serious. Even a small wound can lead to tetanus if left untreated.”
“Teta…nus?”
“Yes, it’s a thing. Anyway, it can be fatal!”
The maid’s face turned pale at Liena’s extreme words about the possibility of death from minor injuries. The faces of the other servants, which had been blooming with laughter, also turned grim.
“Isn’t there a doctor here? From the palace? Someone like that.”
“We can’t receive treatment from them. They are too busy taking care of His Majesty’s health.”
“Ah, how can that be? Is His Majesty the only person that matters? Instead of playing around, shouldn’t he take care of his people? Doesn’t he know that a nation runs on its people? Anyways, it seems like he only cares about himself.”
“Saintess!”
The servants’ eyes widened at Liena’s unrestrained criticism of the Emperor. They kept looking around nervously, worried that someone might have heard.
“When the Emperor is away, it’s normal to complain. Why are you so scared?”
While speaking bravely, Liena meticulously treated the maid’s hand. The treatment was simple, just applying ointment and wrapping a bandage.
This is how the palace garden suddenly turned into a makeshift clinic.
It all started with a simple compliment about the beautiful blooming flowers. When a maid tried to pick a flower for Liena and pricked herself on a thorn, Liena noticed the maid’s hands, which were covered in both large and small wounds. This prompted Liena, unable to overlook the injuries, to start treating them.
Occupational habits are hard to get rid of. Fortunately, the palace had ointment, which Liena had asked to be brought. She spent the entire afternoon treating the servants’ wounds.
Emma tried to stop her, but ultimately just watched, unable to argue with Liena’s firm determination. She rationalized it as part of Liena being a Saintess.
Unable to ignore those in pain, Liena felt it was her duty to help.
The problem started when the maid whose hand Liena treated brought another maid, and word spread quickly. Now, even the other maids were reaching out to her for help.
It seemed like the first time so many servants had gathered in the garden. Emma contemplated intervening, but seeing Liena’s unusually bright expression, she chose to just watch. She was concerned about Liena, who had been sadly crying all morning.
‘Was she always like this?’
Liena was quite different from the previous Saintess. She wasn’t from the temple but had a human side to her. She seemed down-to-earth and kind-hearted. She laughed and cried easily, unlike the previous Saintess, who was emotionless just like a doll. Liena was very honest with her emotions.
Trapped in a strange place by the fearsome Emperor, Liena was really enduring a lot. Emma knew better than anyone how much her frail body was being overworked every night. That’s why she felt sorry for Liena. Seeing her smiling so brightly made Emma feel even worse. If nothing else, she wanted to make Liena’s life comfortable while she was by her side.
