And it wasn’t just animals, from a certain range, he could open doors and break things. It was information that would never come in handy, but it was good to know.

 

“All done.”

 

I checked the wound on his wing and stood up, taking a couple of steps away.

 

“Does that mean we can move on to the next step?”

 

“Next step?”

 

While I scratched my head, unsure of what he meant, Adelaine rose to his feet and turned toward me. Now I was face-to-face with him, only two steps away.

 

“If we’re going to make a contract, then we need to seal each other.”

 

Another step. Adelaine stepped in front of me. 

 

At the same time, I took two steps back.

 

“Why are you approaching me, you can stand there and explain.”

 

“Because I have something I want to know, as much as I want to give myself to the person who will be my master.”

 

Unable to hide my disbelief. Now he wants to test me.

 

“You spoke as if you would do everything for me.”

 

I spoke as if I had something to complain about, but Adelaine laughed bitterly.

 

“You tricked me.”

 

“I’m not deceiving you. I was just telling you now.”

 

Without realizing that he had an ulterior motive, I examined his wounds with great care! I resented that I kept falling into Adelaine’s shallow trap.

 

My life was on the line, and even though Adelaine didn’t understand my true feelings, the thought growing in my mind was that Adelaine was being deceitful.

 

“I’m going to fix your behavior.”

 

But I couldn’t back down. I stood in front of him with all the nerve I could muster.

 

“What do you want to see, what do you need to show me, so I can make a deal to become your master?”

 

Adelaine didn’t answer right away. Instead, he took another step forward.

 

Again I backed away, and soon my back was against a wall. 

 

Unlike the one Adelaine was leaning against, it was plain, devoid of anything hanging on it.

 

“Are you not curious to see how far we are connected?”

 

Adelaine placed his hands on both of my shoulders.  His hands traced the roundness of my shoulders and gripped them.

 

There was nowhere to run. I stared up at him, not answering.

 

“I want to see how far I can pull my power.”

 

“How am I supposed to…”

 

“This is the last time. The last time, I did not ask permission from my master.”

 

Cutting him off mid-sentence, Adelaine cupped my chin with one hand and slowly lowered his head.

 

“Don’t worry. I won’t eat you.”

 

This was a first for me.

 

A stranger’s lips on my slightly parted lips.

 

Into my wide-open eyes came Adelaine, whose gorgeous features pressed against mine without mercy.

 

Adelaine blinked a few times, as did I, and then smiled, furrowing his brows. 

 

Sheepishly, my eyes closed deeply, and just as they were about to open, the opposite happened, I squeezed them shut.

 

Adelaine’s lips descended on my closed lips in a repeated peck that made me gasp in surprise.

 

‘I thought you said you would ask permission.! 

 

Without warning, Adelaine brought his lips to mine, as if he were knocking and asking for permission.

 

And I had to admit it. I had never beaten Adelaine before, and I couldn’t defeat him now. 

 

Somehow, I had a premonition that I wouldn’t be able to win in the future.

 

“Hmph.”

 

As soon as I let the slightest bit of pressure off my lips, Adelaine slipped through the crack. 

 

In an instant, my tongue was captured and my head tilted.

 

The uncomfortable position forced me to cling to the man in front of me.

 

‘This thing isn’t going to eat me?’

 

I asked, feeling a little teary-eyed. Along came into view, his wings still glistening.

 

The kiss lasted as long as Adelaine wanted it to.

 

In fairy tales, beasts are said to become human when they receive a loving kiss from a beautiful woman. 

 

I admitted to myself that I was beautiful, but Adelaine did not immediately become human.

 

That was a good thing for me. I don’t think I could tame a fully human being.

 

I hoped he would remain a beast just a little longer.

 

After all, I’ve been through, I deserve a proper pet, don’t you think?

 

At the time, I didn’t realize that I had gone too far in the act of taming a pet.

 

But the thought crossed my mind that maybe he hadn’t become a human being because he didn’t have a heartfelt love for me.

For a beast, Adele was quite persistent.

 

Although it was only a kiss, he would not let her go until he was satisfied.

 

When she got impatient and made a little gesture of resistance, he said.

 

“I have risked my soul for this one thing. In fairness, as my master often said, I deserved better than this.”

 

A beast did not have to be unintelligent, but this beast was absurdly rambunctious and clever.

 

As much as I got to know it, so did the beast get to know me.

 

‘Is this the ideal master-servant relationship?’

 

I kept trying to distract myself from my thoughts with my lips.

 

When I complained that my lips were getting swollen, I told him to take one last breath and let me go. He buried his head near the nape of my neck for a long time afterward.

 

‘I should have left my shirt tucked in.’ 

 

Adele rubbed his nose through my shirt, which was barely undone, and inhaled my scent. 

 

For a moment, Adele sucked hungrily on my collarbone, as if there were something there.

 

A tickling, strangely unbearable sensation crawled up from underneath me, partly due to the embarrassment of my sweaty body.

 

It was hard for me to take it anymore.

 

“Stop.”

 

But the beast was still far from finished, and one command was not enough. 

 

Eventually, I gently stroked the back of its head and grabbed its hair so it wouldn’t hurt.

 

“If you don’t stop, then I will have to force you off.”

 

Perhaps that was what Adelaine wanted to hear. 

 

Yet he still insisted on doing as he pleased, so I tightened my grip on his hair as I had warned him.

 

“My master is quite salty as a meal.”

 

Adelaine lifted his head in response to my touch, even though I didn’t exert much force.

 

How could this be a feeding activity? 

 

The question flashed in the back of my mind, but I was more shocked by what was happening at the moment.

 

‘I grabbed Adelaine’s head.’

 

This was something I would never have dreamed of in the past.

 

“Now get out of the way.”

 

Aside from being stifled by the wall, I was also embarrassed by Adele’s thigh, which had closed the distance and was now between my legs.

 

The slightest movement of my toes and I would fall on top of him. 

 

It wasn’t as if I didn’t have instinctual senses, after all, I was a human being, not an animal, and I shouldn’t be resting on his thigh.

 

Even now, the heat was already rising through the skin that was just about to touch. 

 

My throat burned. I was afraid of my body, which kept trying to open up against my will.

 

My toes curled inward and my calves strained. If I stayed any longer, I was going to lose it.

 

“One last time, then.”

 

Adelaine, who had already learned to control his master, pressed his lips to hers one last time.

 

All the clumsiness and ferocity of the first time had vanished, and the lips, still moist, pressed together in a pecking motion, then in a firm squeeze, and soon the sharpened tongue was out again, parting the lips.

 

‘Aren’t you getting carried away?’ 

 

It was different from the first time, when it had burrowed in and taken over. 

 

Slowly, the tongue slid in, skimmed my teeth, lightly entwined their tongues, tickled the roof of my mouth once, and then slowly withdrew.

 

Later. A wet sound echoed between us, and as if that weren’t enough, the long thread of saliva hung in the air for a moment before breaking.

 

My mouth felt dry as he sucked all the moisture out of me. 

 

The parched breath slipped away.

 

I thought he was going to pull away, but instead, his straight teeth nibbled my bottom lip one last time before pulling away.

 

My lips pulled back and then returned, gaping open, unable to close.

 

“You’re going to have to relearn how to breathe from now on, master.”

 

I couldn’t argue with that, and by then I was holding my breath and then letting it out in a rush.
