MHYFMAMD Ch 39
by rosey“I understand roughly what you’re trying to say.”
A somewhat positive response flowed from Dietrich.
“But there’s no need to add uncertainty just to prove a point.”
That was all. His focus on practicality and efficiency was as businesslike as ever.
He had always been this way since they first met.
Unless he trusted someone, he would analyze others’ words and weigh the benefits. His position as Margrave had only made his cold demeanor more steadfast.
“There’s no reason to add any unnecessary risks to a wedding that will proceed smoothly without any problems.”
“If it’s just our wedding, that would be enough.”
“Who else is there?”
“Young master”
Thanks to that, there was no need for misunderstanding. He had been exactly the same as five years ago.
“Even if it’s temporary, we’re becoming a family. So, I think he should be part of it too.”
Dietrich paused for a moment. A brief flicker of hesitation crossed his face.
“There’s no need for that. I’ll make sure Arden understands.”
“For Arden’s sake, it’s better to do this.”
Tenesia emphasized again.
It’s different from when Grace was around. Now, there’s a child who needs to accept the changes in their relationship. It would be better for him to adjust to the sudden addition of family this way.
“It’s fine. There won’t be any danger to the young master.”
For just a second, Dietrich raised one eyebrow.
“Sometimes, Tenesia, you tend to be a bit too sure of yourself. How can you be so certain?”
“As Margrave said, this wedding is going to be a groundbreaking yet solemn event. The security will be tight, too.”
Tenesia recalled the wedding she had as Grace.
“If something were to happen, people would probably target at the reception after the ceremony with the audience spread out, not in the middle of the ceremony.”
“If only one person is the target, it would be better to do it during the ceremony.”
“Even so, I don’t think the young master will be in any danger. I’ll be watching his back.”
A flower girl doesn’t move alone. It’s the bride who walks while stepping on the blessings of purity and whiteness symbolized by the flower girl.
“I’ll protect him if something happens.”
She planned to use spirits to protect him as well. Of course, she couldn’t tell Dietrich that.
“…And what about you?”
“Huh?”
Dietrich, who had been silently listening to her, seemed to want to add something but decided against it. When she didn’t see any further response, Tenesia continued her persuasion.
“Besides, I believe in you. You won’t leave your child in danger, Margrave.”
“Trust me? In what way?”
“Grace told me. Even though you seem cold, you’re good to your family.”
Tenesia smiled gently.
“I believe in you because I believe in Grace.”
“…Arden won’t do it unless he agrees.”
It was a roundabout way of admitting defeat.
“Leave it to me. I’ll try to convince him.”
Just then, dessert was served, signaling the end of the meal. Tenesia picked up one of the plates and spoke.
“Also, don’t worry too much. From what I’ve seen, the young master seems braver than you think.”
After all, he was Dietrich’s child. Tenesia thought to herself as she recalled the look of Arden, who had stared at her.
At the same time, her steps toward Arden’s room grew a little quicker.
“Young master? It’s me, Tenesia.”
Arriving at his room, she knocked lightly on the door.
“I brought you some dessert since you didn’t have any.”
“…Dessert?”
Being at an age where sweets were irresistible, Arden immediately reacted to the word ‘dessert’.
“Yes. It’s a sweet cake, and the strawberries on top are really delicious.”
Even though he tried to act mature, he was still just a five year old. Not long after, Arden opened the door with a face full of curiosity.
Tenesia handed him the dessert first. Arden hadn’t eaten much of his meal, so she allowed him to savor the cake and enjoy it for a while.
“How are you feeling? Are you okay?”
Once Arden finished and looked regretful as he placed his empty plate on the table, Tenesia gently brought up the topic.
“…Yes.”
Fortunately, Arden answered, sounding a little better than before.
“I’m sorry I didn’t answer earlier…”
“You didn’t do anything wrong. I surprised you by asking so suddenly, didn’t I?”
Tenesia stopped the boy from apologizing.
“…Actually, I wanted to receive your congratulations on the day of the wedding. And if possible, I’d like us to proceed with the ceremony together.”
“Me, too…?”
“Of course. We’re going to be a family, after all.”
“Family…”
Arden murmured uncertainly.
