MHYFMAMD Ch 33
by rosey“Then I’ll take it as your permission.”
Tenesia gave a soft smile.
“By the way, when is the family dinner? If I remember correctly, Margrave agreed to have dinner together once a week.”
The questions kept coming, as if trying to fill in the five days of silence.
Instead of answering, Dietrich turned his gaze to the butler.
“Prepare dinner immediately.”
“Understood.”
He nodded as he watched the departing servant.
“If I call later, have you come. I still have work to do.”
It was clear he wanted to get away from her as soon as possible. However, Tenesia grabbed his arm, as if to stop him from turning away coldly.
“Margrave won’t be the only one at the family dinner, will he?”
“What do you mean?”
“Well, since it’s a family dinner, shouldn’t there be one more person besides the two of us?”
His brows furrowed slightly at her roundabout words.
“If you have something you want, don’t waste time and say it directly.”
“The child of Grace.”
Tenesia paused and lifted her head.
Through the raised eyelids, she met his gaze, which was colder than ever.
Unfortunately, Tenesia was not about to back down. She couldn’t just let their relationship stay as it was, not for the sake of the child, and not for his sake either.
“Lord, he’s part of the family too. Isn’t it natural for him to join us for the meal?”
She didn’t mention that she had heard about it from a maid. She wanted to hear the truth from the person involved.
Dietrich didn’t say anything further. He simply spoke flatly.
“…Let’s talk about it later. He’s not at the mansion right now.”
“Where is he, then?”
“Tenesia.”
Soon, he would be getting married. He called her name affectionately, aware of his surroundings.
That was all. With a still-cold expression, he pulled his hand away from Tenesia’s grasp, as though brushing it off.
“I appreciate your concern, but it’s better to stop here.”
It was a polite refusal.
“I’ll take care of the child.”
“Is Margrave planning to break our promise?”
“What are you talking about?”
“I know. You’re doing this to protect me. But I also want to help Margrave.”
The more he tried to act aware of his surroundings, the better. Tenesia gazed at him with wide, innocent eyes.
“Becoming a family means the same for him, Lord. He might be surprised, so I want to take it slow.”
He stopped glaring for a moment. The numerous eyes still watching them made him pause.
His hand, lost for a direction, roughly brushed through his hair.
“…Tomorrow.”
How long had it been since he hesitated? After several minutes, his tightly closed lips parted, and the words finally came out.
“I’ll have someone bring them.”
“I’m looking forward to it.”
Finally! The thought of seeing the child made her smile brightly.
“Look over there…”
“The madam has outdone the master…”
The whispers were loud enough to be heard, but Tenesia didn’t mind. As they said, she was relishing in her joy.
Finally, she would get to see the child.
Joy and excitement filled her chest. She had been separated from the newborn child, who hadn’t even opened their eyes.
She wondered what the child’s hair and eyes would look like, who they would resemble, and what kind of world they would see.
‘Just one more night, and I’ll be able to see them.’
For a moment, she tried to suppress her excitement. Tenesia watched Dietrich, who had completely turned his back on her.
Though he seemed aware of people’s gazes, he wasn’t without cooperation. His attitude was somewhat curt, but still, he had agreed.
Since she had received something, she would return the favor. Tenesia nodded to herself quietly.
