MHYFMAMD Ch 17
by roseyBaroness Blanchette rarely showed signs of being flustered.
“What? Why is the Margrave Of Haberfeld here…?”
She trailed off, turning her head abruptly to look at Tenesia.
“Tenesia, did you call him?”
“That can’t be true. You know best that I’ve been locked up here this whole time, Mother.”
“But…”
Flustered, she repeatedly opened and closed her fan.
Tenesia’s words were not incorrect. The letter she intercepted earlier was right in front of her eyes.
For a moment, a gaze filled with irritation from Baroness Blanchette landed on her. She shot a sharp, annoyed look at Tenesia, then quickly closed the door.
“First, try to send him back somehow.”
“W-What should I say…?”
“Do whatever you can! I can’t receive guests today because the master is not here…”
“To say there’s no one here when you’re clearly standing right in front of me… You’re making me feel quite disappointed.”
Just as Baroness Blanchette was about to say something more, the sudden appearance of Dietrich, accompanied by his voice, froze everyone in place.
From far away, the desperate cry of “You can’t go there!” was heard, making it clear that he had ignored any warnings from the doorway.
“So this is how guests are received at the Blanchette estate?”
“No, that’s not it… I was just startled because you came suddenly, without any notice or appointment.”
Baroness Blanchette blocked the door with her body. She did so to prevent Dietrich from having any doubts about the situation inside. The wide hem of her dress served as a good covering.
“I hope you’ll understand. The moment I heard an intriguing rumor, I couldn’t help but come.”
“An intriguing rumor? What kind of rumor…?”
“The rumor that Lady Blanchette is going to marry Count Weigelin.”
The calm voice, whose intentions were unclear, rang out.
“Surely, Baroness Blanchette must know this?”
“Well… If that’s what you’re talking about, it’s not just a rumor—it’s the truth.”
Even Baroness Blanchette, who was usually so uncontrollable, must have been afraid of Dietrich. Her voice trembled faintly as she spoke.
“As of now, she’s insisting on going to Count Weigelin’s family to begin her bridal lessons, so I was just about to send her there reluctantly.”
“Mother, I…!”
“Be quiet, Tenesia!”
The sharp reprimand interrupted Tenesia’s words.
“You’re raising your voice in front of the Margrave, which is inappropriate.”
At the same time she shut Tenesia’s mouth, Baroness Blanchette subtly signaled to the servants through the crack in the door. The servants, having understood her gesture, quickly restrained Tenesia’s body and mouth.
“…!”
Before she could struggle, her limbs were bound, and her mouth was shut. The intense pressure in the air caused Tenesia to collapse helplessly to the floor.
“I apologize. I hope you can show patience with my daughter’s rude attempt to intervene.”
In an uncharacteristic tone of politeness, Baroness Blanchette lowered her gaze, despite giving such a cruel order to her daughter.
“The rumor is true. We’ve already decided on it.”
“What you said differs from what Lady Blanchette said to me.”
“Well, if you’re talking about that, I have no words. This child must be acting out of immaturity. Please, I ask for your kind understanding.”
‘I never agreed to that!’
A voice that couldn’t be heard swirled inside Tenesia’s chest. She tried to speak, but each time, the servants holding her arms prevented her from doing so.
‘It’s all useless.’
Tenesia felt discouraged. She couldn’t move, nor could she speak.
If Dietrich were to leave now, it would all be over. Tenesia shut her eyes tightly.
“…I’m sure you wouldn’t lie, Madam.”
“Of course not. In front of Margrave Of Haberfeld, how could I…”
Baroness Blanchette smiled softly and fluttered her fan. It seemed like the conversation was about to end on a good note.
“Then, I suppose we’ll conclude the discussion here.”
“Wait, excuse me.”
“Huh? What…?”
Dietrich’s extended leg passed by Baroness Blanchette and slammed into the door at the back. With a loud crash as the door hit the wall, the room was completely revealed.
“W-Wait a moment!”
Baroness Blanchette, who belatedly realized the situation, tried to stop him, but she couldn’t hide the scene before her eyes. Dietrich raised an eyebrow the moment he saw Tenesia, restrained by the servants.
“You’d better remove those hands.”
With a deadly aura, the hands that had been holding Tenesia vanished one by one. When the last hand that had been holding her arm disappeared, Tenesia collapsed to the floor in exhaustion.
“Are you alright, Lady?”
With Dietrich’s hand helping her up, Tenesia barely nodded. Her body, still shaken from the shock, trembled like a leaf in the wind.
“What is this madness? That girl was being disciplined for her reckless actions! Even though you are Margrave, this is extremely rude!”
“Rude? Me?”
Dietrich interrupted Baroness Blanchette’s words and turned his head.
“Ugh.”
His sharp gaze even made Baroness Blanchette flinch.
“You’re the one being rude to me.”
“…What?”
“It is only natural for the head of the Haberfeld family to protect its bloodline. But since you’re hindering that, it’s only natural for me to act accordingly.”
