MBD | Chapter 11
by NimNim 🌧️“How could that be? The offer you’ve already made is more than enough, and I’m not a fool blinded by the money right in front of me.”
If everything went according to plan, not only Everhart but also Graf could accumulate a massive fortune. What’s 20 million gold? That’s laughable.
When the time came, Everhart was even willing to turn a blind eye if Graf quietly pocketed his retirement fund.
“I have a lot to do, so I’ll get going. Where should I report?”
“Report to the military academy for now.”
“I’ll send a summary once a month.”
Everhart escorted Graf out to the hotel lobby. Graf’s car left the hotel.
“Phew, it feels like I’ve crossed a big mountain.”
Although the task of securing 10 million gold was added, recruiting Graf was valuable enough.
“Was that a guest?”
“Yes, well… huh?”
Everhart turned around quickly at the unforgettable voice. There stood Karl Heinrich in a neat suit.
The perfectly tailored high-end suit, with his slightly styled hair, accentuated Karl Heinrich’s physique.
It was a completely different vibe from when he wore the military academy uniform or the military uniform. For a moment, Everhart’s heart skipped a beat.
“Ah, you startled me.”
Although Karl Heinrich was a former soldier, he rarely wore a military uniform after becoming the Führer.
Seeing Karl Heinrich in a suit, Everhart tried to calm his surprised heart.
“What brings you here, sunbae-nim?”
“Am I not allowed to come?”
“If you had told me in advance, I would have prepared… that…”
“Dinner, let’s eat.”
Everhart recalled what he had said to Karl Heinrich on the train. It was a polite remark, but he didn’t expect Karl Heinrich to actually show up.
“Understood.”
The water was already spilled, so there was no choice. Everhart called someone to check if there was a table available at the restaurant. Normally, it was a restaurant that didn’t take same-day reservations, but when Everhart mentioned dining with Karl Heinrich, a table suddenly became available.
Looking out the window, the day had already turned dark. The central street of Eisenwald’s capital was clearly visible beyond the window.
The atmosphere and the food were flawless. Except for one thing. The awkward and cold atmosphere.
“It’s delicious.”
Would you believe that was all that was said during the hour and a half meal?
Everhart suppressed his lips, which were itching to say something, and continued eating.
Even though Kang Woojin had possessed him, Everhart’s body remembered all the complex dining etiquette.
As the suffocating meal was coming to an end.
“Do you drink?”
“Ah, yes.”
“I see.”
“If you don’t mind, would you like a drink?”
Having observed Karl Heinrich’s speech style for a short time, Everhart understood it to some extent. He was not someone who spoke without reason.
Asking about alcohol meant he wanted to have a drink, and judging by his reaction, it seemed like the right interpretation.
“I don’t like noisy places.”
Everhart, who was about to ask if there was a spot at the bar, flinched again.
“If it’s okay with you, let’s drink in my room.”
“Let’s do that.”
Although it felt like he was being subtly led by Karl Heinrich, Everhart had no choice but to go along since he was the one being cautious. Everhart asked the staff to prepare wine and snacks and bring them to the room.
Karl Heinrich was looking out the window, which offered a clear view of the city. Everhart naturally approached the sofa.
Under the sofa was the briefcase he had brought when he talked with Graf.
“I’ll just go to the bathroom for a moment.”
After confirming with his eyes, Everhart relaxed a bit and quickly took care of his business. When he returned to the living room, Karl Heinrich was sitting comfortably on the sofa as if it were his own home.
Everhart quickly approached and grabbed the documents.
“Did you see them by any chance?”
“Am I not allowed to?”
“Why would you look at someone else’s documents?”
Everhart hastily swept the documents on the table into his arms. In fact, he had deliberately left them out for Karl Heinrich to see.
At that moment, one of the documents slipped down.
“Ah!”
The fluttering document flew towards Karl Heinrich. Startled, Everhart instinctively reached for the paper, losing his balance and falling forward. He ended up collapsing onto Karl Heinrich.
Everhart’s hand, holding the paper, touched Karl Heinrich’s chest.
The muscles felt through his palm were much firmer than expected. Wasn’t this practically a block of steel?
After pausing for a while, Everhart finally managed to speak with a strange expression.
“Sunbae-nim, are you flirting with me right now?”
The corners of Karl Heinrich’s mouth slightly lifted.
It seemed like Everhart was the one doing the flirting.
Karl Heinrich suppressed a laugh at Everhart’s confident remark.
Everhart, unaware that Karl Heinrich was amused by his reaction, interpreted the tense atmosphere as awkwardness. If it wasn’t, he would have been serious.
“Haha, just kidding. Don’t react like that.”
When Karl Heinrich didn’t respond, Everhart, feeling embarrassed, stood up. At that moment, Karl Heinrich’s hand moved to Everhart’s waist, pulling him closer.
Everhart’s expression slightly frowned, not understanding the situation.
“…Sunbae-nim. If you keep doing this, it’ll be troublesome.”
“Troublesome?”
“I don’t know what you’re thinking, but you might regret it later.”
Everhart, having placed the documents behind him, looked down at Karl Heinrich.
He had only promised to buy him a meal, not when. With Karl Heinrich coming to him like this, it seemed like he had feelings.
Or maybe he was just very confused right now.
“Sure, Everhart does have a pretty face. But was Karl Heinrich’s taste always like this?”
The original story didn’t reveal sexual preferences, so Everhart had no way of knowing.
Karl Heinrich’s fingertips lightly brushed his back. Whatever the intention, it made his whole body tense.
“You’ll be the one regretting it, not me.”
“If you provoke me like that, it’ll be genuinely troublesome.”
Everhart was in intense internal conflict, still unable to gauge Karl Heinrich.
It would be good if he caught Karl Heinrich’s eye, but he never anticipated such a relationship.
“His appearance is my type, though.”
To be precise, it was Kang Woojin’s type, not Everhart’s. The sunbae he dated at the military academy had exactly that kind of vibe.
Kang Woojin held the title of the youngest colonel in South Korea, but he had one complex.
He had a slender build for a soldier. No matter how much he overcame, it wasn’t easy to overcome his innate frame or physique.
While others did three, he had to do ten. Maybe that’s why? Even when he dated men, he mostly chose those who were tall and had a thick build.
“Let’s stop here.”
Since being possessed, he had exercised every day without fail, significantly improving his stamina. If he decided to fight, there was no way he would lose to the rookie Karl Heinrich.
Especially since Everhart, though he appeared small, had better physical conditions than Kang Woojin, who was Korean.
“I only lost in the mock battle because I had just been possessed.”
Everhart brushed off the hand on his waist and stood up. He wanted to pin him down right then and there.
But it was too soon. Everhart’s survival plan was just beginning.
EberTech hadn’t even properly established itself yet, so he couldn’t hastily get involved with Karl Heinrich.
Despite the hesitant eyes, Everhart’s demeanor was calm as he distanced himself, and Karl Heinrich tilted his head.
“You’re scared.”
“Scared? I’m letting you off. Let’s have a drink.”
Just then, room service arrived. Everhart walked to the door and opened it.
The staff came in, set up the drinks and snacks on the table, and left.
“Is there a spare room?”
“Sunbae-nim… sigh, the inner room is empty, so use it as you please.”
Everhart downed the wine in front of him. He couldn’t understand why this was happening. Was it the joke he made at the beginning?
“When else would I come here to sleep if not for you?”
“Well, the CEO is a bit of a discriminator.”
“That’s not something someone enjoying the benefits should say.”
“Are those benefits guaranteed for life?”
Perhaps because he was drunk, the words flowed easily. But the usually silent Karl Heinrich said nothing and picked up the whiskey bottle.
“There’s whiskey too.”
“I asked them to bring a variety… let’s go with whiskey then.”
It would have been nice if he had mentioned it before opening the wine. Searching the kitchen, he found glasses neatly arranged by type.
After switching to whiskey, they clinked glasses. There was a reason why expensive drinks, whose names he didn’t know, were considered the best.
Karl Heinrich poured whiskey into Everhart’s glass.
“Sunbae-nim… isn’t that a bit much?”
Who pours whiskey like it’s soju? Are you kidding me?
