[anonymous1415926535]: I guess I need to go to school.

The sound of fingers flying over the keyboard was fast. It was a day, three days into the vacation of the Revenant.

[my_ian0419]: School? In that country? Do they even have universities?

Leo popped up in the chat window in five seconds, as usual. It was crazy how thankful Ian was for Leo Sebastian’s ever-present company whenever needed.

    [anonymous1415926535]: Nope.
[my_ian0419]: Then? Oh, you’re coming back? For real?
[anonymous1415926535]: No, not that. I can’t stay away from Leo that far. Maybe Germany or Switzerland would be okay. It’s a drivable distance.
[my_ian0419]: Should I come with you if you go? Is German very hard?
    [anonymous1415926535]: I don’t know. Aren’t there classes in English?
[my_ian0419]: We could look it up. But why suddenly consider school? Is it that boring there?
    [anonymous1415926535]: No, it’s not that…
[my_ian0419]: If it’s not boring, why go to school?
[anonymous1415926535]: To make money. I need to find a job. A proper one.
[my_ian0419]: Wow… So that guy pretends to be rich but isn’t? Did you get scammed, Ian?
[anonymous1415926535]: It’s not like that. He definitely makes good money. But I wish Leo would quit his job.
    [my_ian0419]: Why?
[anonymous1415926535]: It’s too dangerous. I didn’t know it would be like this.
[my_ian0419]: What did he say he was again… some sort of knight commander? Is that dangerous?
[anonymous1415926535]: That’s just the cover. Mostly, he manages royal assets overseas.
[my_ian0419]: Asset management? Like a fund manager? That doesn’t suit him.
[anonymous1415926535]: Not that, actual physical assets. Like mines, power plants, canals, that kind of stuff.
    [my_ian0419]: Huh? That’s dangerous?
[anonymous1415926535]: I didn’t know, but most of those assets are in dangerous places.
    [my_ian0419]: Uh… so that means…?
    [anonymous1415926535]: He got shot recently.
my_ian0418: What? Shot? Did he die?
[anonymous1415926535]: Fortunately, he wasn’t seriously hurt. He’s recovering now.
    [my_ian0419]: Uh… good.

Ian didn’t notice when Leo briefly imagined how it would be if the Revenant died.

[my_ian0419]: It’s kind of weird if you go to school while he’s recovering, no? Does he get really tired when he’s sick? Have you gotten bored of him?
[anonymous1415926535]: No, not at all. I just want him to quit doing such dangerous work. I’d feel better if he was safely at home. For that, I need to earn money.
[my_ian0419]: Oh, I get it. That’s serious love, man.

It was definitely love. Ian finally understood why the Revenant got so touchy every time he talked about going to Reinhardt. Ian wanted to keep the Revenant at home, even if it meant tying him up to prevent him from going to work.

[my_ian0419]: But it’ll take so long to graduate and get a job. In the meantime, he’ll have to keep working, right?
[anonymous1415926535]: A few years should be fine. It seems like he has some money saved up. If it runs short, we could sell one of his private jets.
[my_ian0419]: He has a jet to sell?
[anonymous1415926535]: Yeah. He said it’s technically mine. So I guess I could sell it?
[my_ian0419]: …Then just live off that money, Ian. Why bother getting a job?
[anonymous1415926535]: Living in this country costs a fortune. Everything’s expensive, especially labor. Water is free, but the electricity bill is like robbery. Maintaining the mansion costs a fortune.
    [my_ian0419]: I see… that’s tough…

Ian didn’t notice that Leo had quickly searched the second-hand private jet market.

[my_ian0419]: Why not just come back here with that money? With that amount, you’re super rich, Ian. You wouldn’t need a job for life.
    [anonymous1415926535]: You know I can’t do that.
[my_ian0419]: Worried someone might recognize you? Maybe it’s not like that anymore. I’ve been…

…taking care of that. Those sites uploading such photos.
Leo typed that into the chat, then deleted it. It was for Ian’s sake, but he worried it might bring back bad memories for Ian.
    Better not say anything.
I’ll tell him after I’ve erased everything, or something.

[my_ian0419]: I’ll visit you every day.

Leo changed what he was going to say and typed something else.

[anonymous1415926535]: Thanks. But it’s not because of me. Leo changed his nationality, remember?
[my_ian0419]: Ah… does that mean he has to go through something like a green card interview?
[anonymous1415926535]: I’m not sure, but it might be difficult because of his criminal record.
[my_ian0419]: That’s why he changed his name, right? For a new identity.
[anonymous1415926535]: Exactly. It’s dangerous. What if he gets caught?
    [my_ian0419]: Ah, that could happen.

Leo’s fingers paused for a moment, uncertain what to say next. He couldn’t quite grasp why someone like Ian, who he assumed had the most money among people he knew, was seriously considering going to school to earn money.

[my_ian0419]: How long until he’s fully healed? He’s on vacation now, right? Any chance he’ll get better before his vacation ends and make plans to travel?

Then I could join. Going to that country is damn hard.
Before Leo could type that, Ian began filling the chat at a frantic pace.

[anonymous1415926535]: The vacation got canceled. Or more like, it was cut short. It was supposed to be three months, but it ended in just three days.
[my_ian0419]: What? That’s too harsh. How does that work there? Can employers do that on a whim?
[anonymous1415926535]: You said Leo got shot. It wasn’t just that. He was guarding a mine somewhere in Africa, and something went wrong.
[my_ian0419]: Guarding a mine? From whom?
[anonymous1415926535]: From the local rebels. It got complicated.
[my_ian0419]: Sounds like a different world. So, did it fail? Did the rebels win? But he came back alive? That’s surprising.
[anonymous1415926535]: No. The rebels were dealt with, but in the process, Leo blew up the mine.
[my_ian0419]: Uh… what? I thought he was guarding it.
[anonymous1415926535]: That’s what I said, but things went wrong. According to Leo, blowing up some bombs doesn’t mean the diamonds are damaged, so it wasn’t a huge loss, but it seems like just talk. Prince Eduard came to the house. He said he might claim damages.
[my_ian0419]: That doesn’t make sense. Isn’t the prince his employer? He ordered it, and now he’s claiming damages because it went wrong?
[anonymous1415926535]: It sounds crazy, but this country has a class system.
[my_ian0419]: Wow… that’s rough. Is that prince some kind of tyrant?
[anonymous1415926535]: So, Leo went to work today. His wounds haven’t even healed yet.
[my_ian0419]: Ah… I see why you feel that way. It’s really unfair and frustrating. This is how the French Revolution started, you know.

    “Hmm…”
Ian’s fingers hesitated for a moment.
It was a bit of a stretch to compare Eduard to the absolute monarchs of the past. After all, Revenant had bashed Eduard’s head in twice already. One of those times had even broken his forehead and caused bleeding. Yet, Revenant hadn’t been executed by a firing squad or anything.
And considering the diamond mine in Burkina Faso from Eduard’s perspective, it was somewhat understandable. Revenant had rushed the operation to get it done quickly, and in the process, it seemed he had incurred significant losses. The rebel leader was dead, but some remnants remained, causing great instability in the area, which was, technically, Revenant’s fault. Eduard had expected not the leader’s head but a stable agreement. Revenant had ignored that.
The reason he ignored it was simple. He didn’t know what Eduard might do in his absence.
Anyway, after a day and a night of arguing, the matter of damages was settled with Revenant returning his vacation days. Ian argued that Revenant should use his vacation days until he was healed, but Revenant preferred to forfeit them and take a bonus instead.
Of course, Ian didn’t know what that bonus was. He also didn’t know that a new island had been added to his property list, nor that he could now taste the wine produced there, limited to a hundred bottles a year.

[anonymous1415926535]: Anyway, I feel bad. I didn’t know the situation was that desperate to make money.
[my_ian0419]: I still don’t really understand… but I guess he has his reasons if he’s going that far.
[anonymous1415926535]: That’s why I need to make money.
[my_ian0419]: Do you really have to go to school? Why don’t you ask Timmy for help? If you offer to make money, Timmy might even like that.
[anonymous1415926535]: I’d rather not. It’s still illegal, and if it goes wrong, it could get messy.
[my_ian0419]: Because of the police? You said there’s no extradition treaty with that country.
[anonymous1415926535]: Still. Just in case I need to return.
[my_ian0419]: Hmm… If you say so. Have you thought about what you want to study if you go to school?
[anonymous1415926535]: Yeah. Mechanical engineering might be good.
[my_ian0419]: Wouldn’t software development be better if you want to make money?
[anonymous1415926535]: I told you, everything here is expensive.
    [my_ian0419]: Right.
[anonymous1415926535]: I think opening a computer repair shop could make money.
    [my_ian0419]: …What?
[anonymous1415926535]: There are no repair shops here.
    [my_ian0419]: Oh… I see.

Leo couldn’t understand Ian’s logic about making money through computer repair. Going to school might cost more than the money it could eventually make. Ian also guessed that unless Leo saw it for himself, he would find it hard to believe.
Anyway, the conclusion was that whether in Hillside or Germany, they hoped to reunite soon.
