Chapter 2. Possessed as the 99th Supporting Actress

The Arden was literally a notorious place as they weren’t allowed to waste anything thanks to the Duke’s strict temper. However, the pay was certain for the amount of work done. They even provided overtime pay and holiday pay, so it was an optimal environment for working in any spare time and saving money.

But why do I keep getting deja vu.

‘It’s like deja vu… Like, why do I feel like I’ve seen it before…?’

    Shake shake.

I’m just acting like a detective, Lian thought. This is a second chance. She believed that heaven took pity on her as an orphan and gave her a second life. It had already been more than a month since she worked here, and the owner was a very neat person. Every day, curtains had to be removed and washed every three days, and there was even a disinfection facility at the entrance.

Rumors say that his clothes worn once would be thrown away immediately without wearing them twice, and the maids who were in charge of cleaning the rooms were frequently fired. If he doesn’t like the cleaning done or even a single hair is found, they’re all gone.

Therefore, the people in charge of things like the duke’s room and meals were called the ‘death squad’ and everyone was reluctant to go there despite the high pay.

Of course, Lian had no intention of going there either. Her goal was to work steadily here, collect a large sum of money, and live in a quiet place without worrying about eating and living.

If she could save more money, she thought it would be better if she could use her major to set up a dance institute and teach children. In order to do that, there should be no encounters with the Duke. After cleaning diligently that morning, Lian even took off the curtains and soaked them in water, then scrubbed them.

‘Why is the maid’s dress a skirt? It’s inconvenient.’

Although she grumbled as she was having a hard time, she imagined becoming a store owner in the future and having fun and eating comfortably. When she thought about that, strangely enough, it wasn’t difficult. She started soaping again, humming to herself.

But suddenly the world around her started to become bustling. The servants were organizing their work and arranging them on both sides. A servant found Lian looking around with a puzzled expression at the window and strongly motioned for her to come over.

At the same time as she had doubts, she heard several footsteps from the steps of the central hall. What was unusual to hear was the sound of several rather rough and loud footsteps, which meant that someone was coming up here.

While she was still thinking that it might be the Duke, the sound had already come up the stairs and was turning the corner. From afar, she saw a tall figure and a group of people following it.

Slowly getting closer to them, the appearance of the duke coming began to look as clear as a still screen.

Lepierre Arden. Unlike the infamous rumour, he had a very handsome face. With a beautifully tanned face, his silver eyes and double eyelids gave him a charm. His high nose looked perfectly angled like a god came and handmade an elaborate pottery.

The sun reflecting on his face as he walked and the ever-changing shades were also beautiful as if the sun was a device to shine him.

Furthermore, his enormous height, that seemed close to 190cm, and the body seen over his clothes, reminded her of a beautiful black leopard.

However, now was not the time to leisurely admire his appearance. Lian hurriedly went to  the window closest to where she was cleaning, trying to blend in with the workers and bow her head.

She lowered one foot from the window sill into the hallway. But although she went down quickly on her own, she was already quite noticeable.

Quickly blending into the crowd of workers, she bowed her head as if nothing had happened. The moment she raised her head slightly to look at him, she had no choice but to freeze like a statue.

She came across the Duke’s silver eyes. The Duke was ecstatically perfect when she saw him up close. However, if she wanted to work here for a long time, she couldn’t afford to appreciate him.

As soon as Lian made eye contact with him, she quickly laid her eyes down. Then she felt his gaze looking up and down at her, as if disapproving her.

As she was just washing the curtains, foam was all over her and her skirt was a little rolled up. Would it be a problem if she was a little unkempt? The duke, who was scanning her with hawk eyes, soon turned his head as if he had seen something he couldn’t see. Then he disappeared with violent footsteps. Perhaps it was his mood, the cold wind blew with a bang.

After he disappeared, Lian, relieved, swept her chest and sighed. Relaxed, she thought suddenly.

She was so happy that she survived, but she didn’t even think about asking where this place was, which country, and what era it was. Lian asked Belisha, another maid next to her.

    “Where am I?”

“What do you mean, Arden Estate?”

“No. I mean, this country… What’s the country where we live?”

Belisha, who looked puzzled at the comment, put her hand on Lian’s forehead and even checked for fever. And she talked with a puzzled expression as if she had heard some really strange words.

“Did you hurt your head after all that mess? Where are you? The Illius Empire.”

    “Illius Empire…”

    ……!

That’s right. It was the name of the empire that was the background of the novel <Don’t Do This, Prince>, which Lian read until just before she came to this world.

Yeah… the weirdly familiar name ‘Lepierre Arden’… I just remembered!

He was the guardian of the female lead and one of the supporting actors who had a crush on her. Yet he was a medium between the female lead  and the crown prince. Black hair with blue color. Silver eyes. He was a perfect match with Duke Lepierre, who was described in the novel.

As she saw earlier, in addition to his celestial beauty, he is second to the emperor, and is also the owner of tremendous martial arts, having mastered the battlefield at a young age. Despite such perfect conditions, there is a reason why he remained a minor supporting actor who connected the main characters rather than a second male lead.

“What’s the point of being so handsome? He can’t even get an erection!”

Yes. Duke Lepierre was an eunuch. He was a character with a fantastic setting, but she had lots of sympathy for him when she read the novel.

No, it’s so perfect, but you’re telling me he’s a eunuch? He’s so handsome and outstanding.

‘Hence, he can’t help but have a prickly personality….’

When she realized the situation she was in, she finally understood the sensitive and feisty duke. Lian, who had been familiar with both regression and possession in novels, was dumbfounded by the unbelievable reality.

After all, she didn’t possess the heroine, the heroine’s friend, or a villain, but a low-level supporting maid of the duke’s family.

An extra that has no presence and is only mentioned for once? She’s someone who was mentioned once in the story just because she offended the Duke. That was Lian.

Showing such an embarrassing image in front of the Duke of Lepierre today, it seems like it’s only a matter of time before she gets fired.

What is she going to do for a living after she gets fired from here? It felt like the promising future she had suddenly became dark.

    ***

Lian, who stayed up all night with open eyes, still began to work hard. No, she had no choice but to. That’s all she could do.

If she used her body like that, a day would pass by. She had hoped that if she lived like a rat, someday she would be forgotten and her bank account would grow bigger.

Extras are people that no one remembers. Just like that, each day passed by. Maybe it’s because she has been working too hard lately. But she was struggling that day, and she was working with her body aches.

“Lian! I’m sorry, but suddenly my mother is sick… I think I have to go urgently, can I ask you to do something for me today…?”
