    Gulp.

Tenesia swallowed hard. She couldn’t be caught. She barely looked up at Dietrich with controlling her trembling eyes.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about… Unless you tell me exactly, I won’t know.”

    “Your physical condition.”

Her shoulders twitched slightly. Dietrich’s dark eyes, seemingly emotionless, scanned Tenesia.

“You’ve only been up for three months, so why are you pushing yourself so hard to come here?”

    “Ah…”

Despite his keen eyes, Tenesia breathed a sigh of relief. Thankfully, he hadn’t discovered that her life was limited.

“It’s better to be honest with each other. As I said last night, I hate being deceived.”

“…I was desperate. Who would have thought that I would wake up to be told to prepare for marriage to a man who is in his fifties?”

    “Hmm.”

“Don’t worry about my health. I’m healthy enough to go about my daily life now without any problems.”

Dietrich didn’t say anything else, as if he had gathered information during the short time she was unconscious.

“It’s just that I overexerted myself while using the teleportation gate, but I’ll be fine soon if I just get some rest.”

Dietrich’s cautious gaze fell on Tenesia.

“… So, could you please reconsider terminating the contract one more time?”

“…You’re saying you can survive the harsh northern cold?”

Tenesia’s eyelids flickered rapidly at the sudden question.

Was he giving his approval? It didn’t matter. As long as she could make up for her mistake last night.

“Don’t worry about that. People live here too. As long as you give me a space to warm up a fire indoors, I will be able to endure winter”

Contrary to Tenesia’s confident words, Dietrich frowned in annoyance.

“Isn’t that obvious? It would be perfect to cause a scandal to keep my wife in a cold room.”

He sighed and patted his arm. Tenesia remained silent, recognizing his gesture as asomething he did when he was lost in thought. A smile had already spread across Tenesia’s face when she realized that he has no intention of reneging on the contract.

“…I think I understand how you feel about me, Lady.”

Dietrich’s gaze, filled with distrust, fell on her cheek.

‘Oops. I guess I was too direct in trying to ease his burden.’

Tenesia tried to speak, but Dietrich was a step faster.

“Since you seem fine,  I’ll leave it at that. I’ll have a carriage ready for you to return.”

    “Ah…”

She hadn’t seen her child yet. Not even a glimpse of his hair. Tenesia could not overcome the dripping regret and opened her mouth.

“Well, I haven’t even properly greeted everyone here…”

“If you greet them twice, you might have a funeral even before the wedding.”

She could risk being misunderstood if she was too eager at the first meeting. Tenesia closed her mouth.

She would see him again. She would return to this place soon.

‘Just wait a little longer, my child.’

She tried to look around the castle even a little before leaving, but she failed every time.

“You can’t walk around when you just woke up after falling down!”

With a tingling sound, Tenesia was locked in a warm room. It was to protect her, but it was too much.

“Still, let me just  look around a little… … .”

“Cover yourself with the blanket and rest well. If you need anything, please let me know.”

They seemed to think that Tenesia’s collapse was their fault for failing to serve their guests properly. Unable to say anything against their well-intentioned concern, she had no choice but to keep her mouth shut and raise her teacup.

In the end, she couldn’t even see a single hair of her child until it was time to go home. Dietrich was also busy and hasn’t been seen since.

As the time to leave approached, Tenesia went out of the castle. A carriage with the Haberfeld crest appeared before her.

    “You can take this carriage.”

The maid’s words confirmed her guess. She felt relieved.

“We have heated the inside of the carriage considering the lady’s physical condition, so she will be fine while we go.”

    “Thank you.”

Tenesia, with the help of the maid, boarded the carriage.

The carriage wheels rolled smoothly as the door closed. The ride was incomparably smoother than the cheap one she had taken before.

Tenesia gazed out the window, watching the castle fade from view. Even in a very different atmosphere, the familiar sight calmed her down.

‘I’m coming back here again. I have another chance to give him everything in life that was given to me.’

Tenesia didn’t take her eyes off the window until the familiar scenery disappeared as the carriage teleported.
