A Night Of Poverty
It all started with a secret trip out of the palace to find a lake.
Hyegang unfortunately caught the eye of Jaeyoon, the son of her family’s enemy and the captain of the Royal Guard.
“I didn’t know the Captain cared so much about my protection. With such strong backing, I suppose I’ll have to drown myself in the sea next time, not a lake.”
“That sounds suspiciously like a plea for me to tie you up.”
“Your ears seem to have a talent for misinterpreting things.”
“Then by all means, try to run.”
Jaeyoon’s words stopped Hyegang in her tracks. Surprised by his reaction, she turned around to see him standing there with his hands clasped behind his back, his gaze fixed intently on her.
A smile played on his lips. It was the smile of someone who enjoyed the thrill of the chase, a chilling, almost crazed smile that, strangely, seemed sensual.
“Try to get as far away as possible, and pray I don’t catch you.”
He had closed the distance between them before she knew it.
“Because I have a horse, a sword, and the permission to lay my hands on Your Highness.”
