Chapter 2. The Aphrodisiac Only Helps

    “Jeno!”

Mikaela’s screams echoed throughout the quiet castle. Jeno, who was fixing the swing chair, threw down the hammer and immediately ran to where he heard the scream. Mikaela was not a princess who screamed easily. She wouldn’t scream just because she suddenly fell or slipped on the floor.

But it was a castle tower.

His steps became tense. The pace at which he was now in human form was not enough. If he transformed back into his dragon form, he could climb the castle tower with one flap of his wings. In return, the castle would collapse.

    “How… Get that away…!”

The closer he got to the castle tower, the more sparse Mikaela’s voice sounded. Jeno felt that the situation was not normal due to her desperate voice.

    Bang!

Eventually, he lost control of his power and smashed the door. The thick wooden door flew like a sheet of paper. At the same time, Mikaela entered Jeno’s eyes.

The prince whom he had driven out yesterday morning was holding her wrist and pointing a dagger at her. Unlike his burnt-out clothes, the prince’s sword was deadly sharp.

    “Reveal your identity, you witch!”

The prince, who had certainly lost his reason, swung his sword like a fool. Mikaela bit her lip, alternating between Jeno and the sword.

Mikaela has never been targeted with a sword. She was a princess. The princes who came to the castle vowed to give their all to Mikaela, whose face they had never seen. The sword was a means to protect her, not a tool to harm her.

    At least in Mikaela’s world.

In addition, Jeno was always by her side. The flames of hell, feared by everyone, defended Mikaela firmly.

She would never have imagined that there would be a day when her life would be threatened. Not even to anyone else, but to the prince.

“Where is the princess, and why is the witch wandering around the castle!”

    “But I am the princess?”

    “What nonsense!”

The prince swung his sword at random as if it were a fly swatter. He was beside himself with shock and fear. The white of his eyes flashed with a smear of evil.

“The princess said she was trapped in the tower. I heard that you spend your nights in tears of sadness and loneliness! But you…… You look like you’re having fun. I heard your singing when I was less than halfway up the wall!”

“What’s wrong with me singing in my house?”

    “What nonsense! What nonsense!”

“Leave the castle before Jeno kills you. Yesterday was just a threat, but he’s really not going to put up with it today.”

Even as her nut-colored eyes trembled with anxiety, Mikaela warned the other person in a rather firm voice. She didn’t even shed tears.

On the other hand, the prince, whose belief had collapsed, shuddered at Mikaela’s words. Then the prince’s eyes turned to Jeno.

The gown, lightly draped so that he could transform into a dragon’s form at any moment, with the muscles of his upper body exposed between them. An inscription of a dragon on his chest. The yellow-amber eyes he just encountered yesterday.

Every piece he had received with his eyes was fitted together inside the prince.

“The dragon and the witch were in cahoots.”

    “…What?”

Mikaela asked in disbelief. The word cahoots must have made her ears doubt. Just like being pointed with a sword, it was a word she never dreamed would be used to describe herself until this time.

“You killed the poor princess, and you and that demon dragon are pretending to be princesses!”

“Did you hurt your head yesterday?”

    “Wicked witch! The princess’ enemy!”

Realizing that words could no longer be communicated, Mikaela waved her wrist in order to make him let go. The prince brandished his sword regardless. A handful of fine hair was cut by the sword. There was also blood on Mikaela’s slender shoulders.

As soon as he saw the blood, Jeno’s reason was cut off.

Jeno ran straight to the prince and threw himself out of the castle with him in his arms. Guaaahhhkkk! A ridiculous scream erupted from the prince’s mouth.

For a few seconds before reaching the ground, Jeno plunged his fist into the prince’s face in human form. It was easy to tear his body apart in his dragon form. It was overly easy.

He realized why humans fight with their fists. The sensation of it directly touching his fist was exhilarating. He could vividly feel his skin burst and the bones beneath it being crushed. The smell of his blood awakened the cruel instinct in him.

With only a few meters to the ground, Jeno transformed into his original form and flew up. With a single flap of his wings, the ground was hollowed out. Caught by the giant claws, the prince screamed and struggled with a loud scream.

‘I’ll put you to rest in the cold lake. Even in midsummer, if you fall into a place that is as cold as the glaciers of the North Sea, your stupid head will freeze.’

Just thinking about it was satisfying.

    ‘How dare you hurt Mikaela.’

    It was unforgivable.

As he was flying toward a large lake in the forest, the prince pulled something out of his arms. Another dagger? If so, it was indeed futile. A dragon’s skin was tougher and harder than any armor, so no mere human weapon could harm it.

“A, a revenge for the princess!”

    Swiiishhhh!

It was not a dagger. The prince pulled out a bottle that looked like perfume and sprayed it at Jeno. His fierce expression was like that of a martyr.

    ‘What’s this?’

His eyes and nose were a little itchy. Just when he wondered if it had been mixed with pepper, he arrived at the lake. Without hesitation, Jeno dropped the fool into the lake. If he survived, he hoped he would come back. Next time, he would burn half of his body and tear the other half to death.

As he was returning to the castle, he heard Mikaela’s voice. Now that the matter was solved, why was the princess crying out in fright?

In an instant, Jeno’s eyes faltered.

Before he even realized what the hell had happened to him, a strange aura boiled inside his body. His stomach churned and his whole body throbbed. His head was pounding.

Was it poison that the prince sprayed? Weapons were useless to him, but poison was a different story. Jeno was angry at himself for being careless for a while. This matter concerned Mikaela, so it was his fault for losing his senses.

    “Damn it…”

    “Jeno!”

In an instant, the dragon, which had lost its balance, fell down to the castle tower.
